1. Why would I need a POS system instead of my cash register?
In short, Point-Of-Sale systems are digital cash registers. They perform all the functions of a standard cash register and a variety of other tasks, which are their real value. Daunting tasks like inventory counts, price adjustments, inventory level reports, sales history, customer information management, and accounts receivable are made simple with the help of a POS system. If you need greater control over your inventory, sales data, and customer data, a POS system is your total solution.
2. Can Cloud 9 Industries incorporate a POS system into an e-commerce web site?
Many new POS software programs allow for integration into varies types of e-commerce web sites. Depending on the type of retail performed and the type of inventory carried, POS data can be entered into the e-commerce web site daily or after each transaction occurs.
3. Can Cloud 9 Industries train my staff to use the new POS system?
Absolutely. If we didn’t train our clients, their POS systems would be of little use. We offer clear and comprehensive instruction to our clients and are always just a phone call away should a problem arise. Most POS software is rather simple to use, however the initial set up can be much more challenging.
4. Will my new POS system create reports to help my management team?
Perhaps the greatest benefit of a POS system is the ability to create a variety of reports specifically tailored to your business. Reports can include a variety of important business statistics such as inventory turnover, on hand inventory quantities, year-to-date sales in units, year-to-date sales in dollars, sales margins, reorder frequencies, and many others.
5. How can POS software reduce my costs and time when taking physical inventory?
POS software allows for reports to be made based on current inventory levels and then compared against the actual physical inventory count. Handheld or mobile systems allow employees to scan barcode-labeled items and enter their quantity. This is the method that most large retailers use for physical inventory.
6. Is POS software too expensive for my small business?
POS software is just like any other tool and is priced according to its features. Basic POS software packages are very inexpensive and often pay for themselves in their first year of use. The advanced, industry-specific, POS software solutions are more comprehensive and can be customized to best serve your company’s business model.
7. Are my computers modern enough to run POS software effectively?
Most modern computers are capable of running POS software. Even computers 3-4 years old are powerful enough to run POS software. Should an upgrade be needed, Cloud 9 Industries will present you with options and pricing for the upgrades. New computers have greatly decreased in price so even if your computer system needs an overhaul, it will likely be less expensive than you think.
8. How can POS software help manage my receivables, customers, and inventory?
POS software uses a database to manage a variety of data. Nearly all POS solutions allow for management of receivables and customer data. All POS software solutions manage inventory. Because all of this data is stored in a single database, the software is capable of sorting the data in nearly every way imaginable.
9. Once my network is installed, how often should it undergo maintenance?
Routine network maintenance will ensure that your computer system will not fail during business hours. Diagnostics of hardware, software, and cabling will help determine if there are any unknown problems. Network maintenance should always occur immediately after installation of a new network device (computer, printer, scanner, fax machine, router, etc).
10. Can multiple computers share a single display, keyboard, mouse, and printer?
There are several options for sharing hardware between multiple computers. Cloud 9 Industries is experienced with many of these options and will determine which option will best suit your needs. With networking technology advancing rapidly, there is no need for each computer to have all the peripheral hardware items when networked sharing can occur.
11. How can network administration help my employees be more efficient?
A properly configured network will allow your employees to more efficiently complete their solitary tasks as well as quickly collaborate with other employees on multi-member projects. Networks also allow for reduced hardware redundancy in the workspace, freeing up space to foster your employee’s creative and efficiency. Network administration can also create a centralized file storage location or even utilize server technology to allow multiple employees simultaneous access to programs and data.

16. Can my network include computers that are not physically on-site?
Creating a Virtual Private Network is the best method for linking multiple computers at various locations.
